Digital Divide
DEFINITION: “Digital divide is a term that refers to the perceived gap between those who have access to the latest information technologies and those who do not. Many people argue that the digital divide unfairly equips wealthy citizens and their children with more information and opportunities than those with lower incomes.” (Technology and Society).
NARROW THE TOPIC:
- Should we worry about the digital divide?
- Are government regulations widening the digital divide?
- Has technology harmed society?
- How will the digital divide affect society in the future?
- Are corporate efforts like those of the Microsoft's Gates Foundation self-serving?
- Discuss efforts to bridge the digital divide with developing nations.
