DESIGNER DRUGS / CLUB DRUGS

 

DEFINITION:  "A group of illegally produced chemicals that mimics the effect of specific drugs of abuse…Designer drugs are often made in such a way that their structures are subtly different from the drugs they imitate.  As a result these drugs escape the federal laws that control the manufacture and distribution of drugs listed under the Controlled substance Act (CSA)."  (American Medical Association Encyclopedia of Medicine)
