BREAST IMPLANTS 

DEFINITION:   “Procedures performed for aesthetic enhancement of the breasts which may be undertaken electively or following surgery to correct a pathology.” (Magill’s Medical Guide: Health and Illness)

 

NARROW THE TOPIC:

·         Are breast implants dangerous? 

·         Do breast implants cause illness in otherwise healthy women?

·         Is there a relationship between breast implants and cancer?

·         Why do women want breast implants?  Is it primarily for cosmetic reasons?

·         Why did the FDA take silicone-gel breast implants off the market? Should the ban be continued?

·         Should all breast implants be banned until they can be proven safe?

·         Discuss the Dow Corning settlement.
