   BINGE   DRINKING

 

DEFINITION:  Binge Drinking:  Defined as 5 or more alcoholic drinks in a row for men and 4 or more for women by researchers with the Harvard School of Public Health.  Among young adults leads to impairment that can result in drunk driving, sexual assault, violence, and a host of other adverse effects.  (Teen Addiction.  REF HV4999 .Y68 T45 2002, pg. 102.)
