DEFINITION: “A philosophy that claims animals should have rights or interests equal to those of humans.  (American Issues Debated: Animal Rights)

 

NARROW THE TOPIC:

·         Do animals have rights?

·         Should animals be allowed to experience pain for medical research?

·         Should animals be used for food?

·         Is animal experimentation bad science?

·         Should the fur industry be shut down?

·         How should substances which may be harmful to human health, be tested?

·         Are there alternatives to using animals for research?

·         Does wildlife need to be protected?

·         Would the advances in treatments for diseases like aids have been possible without using animals?

·         Should computer software replace animal dissection in biology classes?
