| Periodicals
Though a great deal of material is available through online journals, the U/CL maintains a number of journals and newspapers in both hard copy and microform. Hard copies of journals are in the Periodicals Area, located on the first floor, south of the elevators. Current newspapers are available at the Circulation Desk. The U/CL print periodicals and microforms can be searched using the library’s online catalog, LINCCWeb. There is also an online “Periodicals List,” which is a consolidated list on the library’s Web page of the journal holdings in all formats (hard copy, microform, or full-text online) to which this library has access. Many of the databases and full-text journals require your library card number.
The microfiche machines have some coin-operated reader/printers which cost $.10 or $.25 per page. Periodical indexes are available in LINCCWeb, the FAU catalog, by selecting Finding Articles on the U/CL Web page, or by selecting Periodicals from the Quick Picks list. All faculty can call ahead for arrangements to use a passkey for the reader/printers to make multiple printed copies. Faculty will have to pay but a receipt will be provided for reimbursement from your department. FAU faculty members who send a graduate student to make copies of periodicals will also need to send a letter on letterhead from the department chair with the graduate student's name, the faculty member’s name, and the date(s). This will be kept on file for the semester.
